MassChallenge is the largest and one of the most startup-friendly accelerators globally, founded in 2009 by John Harthorne. Uniquely, MassChallenge takes zero equity and operates as a not-for-profit, instead awarding several million dollars in equity-free cash prizes to the highest-impact startups. Operating accelerators in multiple cities worldwide, MassChallenge alumni have raised over $8.5 billion in funding, generated $3.5 billion in revenue, and created over 200,000 jobs. Its alumni survival rate is notably strong.
